ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL ALERT BY PRECINCT 8 K9 DUKE LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE
On August 8, 2026, at approximately 1:26 AM, K9 Deputy K. Peters conducted a traffic stop in the 10500 block of the Gulf Fwy on a Honda for multiple violations.
During the stop, K9 Duke was deployed for an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. Deputy Peters conducted a probable-cause search of the vehicle and recovered a significant amount of suspected illegal drugs.
The driver, identified as 44-year-old Derek Duane Hale, was charged with three counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, PG1. Hale was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, where he was booked without incident. Hale’s bonds were set at a total of $1.2 million.
