After 28 Years of exemplary service to PPD the honorable Sergeant Kenneth King flips his retirement card. Congratulations!

After 28 years of dedicated service to the Pasadena Police Department and the citizens of Pasadena, we would like to congratulate Sergeant Kenneth King on his retirement.

Sergeant King began his law enforcement career shortly after he graduated from Deer Park High School in 1979. He worked for the Rusk Police Department and later worked for the Baytown Police Department before joining the Pasadena Police Department in 1995. After graduating from the 45th Modified Police Academy, King went on to work all three patrol shifts, was a K-9 officer, Police Service Officer Supervisor, and most recently, one of three supervisors in our Quality of Life Services Unit.

Sergeant King has received many accolades during his tenure, including three Meritorious Service Awards. In 2003, he received the department’s Distinguished Service Award for pulling a citizen from a vehicle engulfed in flames after a crash, saving her life. In 2007, King responded to a hostage situation, which led to the suspect’s arrest and a peaceful resolution to a volatile situation. In 2002, he observed a vehicle driving erratically at one o’clock in the morning. After conducting a traffic stop, King realized the female driver was nervous and appeared frightened of the male passenger. Throughout the course of his investigation, King discovered that the male had kidnapped the female and had threatened her and her 4-year-old son at their home just three days earlier. These are just a few examples of the great work Sergeant King has performed over his career with our department.

Please join us in congratulating him on a great career and wishing him well during his much-deserved retirement!
