On Thursday, December 21, 2023, Precinct 8 Deputy Burden with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 11800 block of the S Sam Houston Pkwy E on a vehicle for several traffic violations including displaying an obscured temporary tag and failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. Deputies Webber, Camarillo and Atluri arrived to the scene to assist. The driver was identified as 37 year old Thomas Ernest Smith II. After further investigation, deputies conducted a consent based search of the vehicle and located 90.1 grams of methamphetamine.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted felony charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Smith was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bond was set at $25,000.
