Precinct 8 Deputy K. Peters caught a repeat offender drunk driving plus carrying narcotics.

On Sunday, November 27, 2023, Precinct 8 Deputy K. Peters with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 13000 block of Scarsdale Blvd for traveling a high rate of speed and failing to maintain a single lane of traffic. The driver was identified as 25 year old Derek Alba. While speaking with the driver, Deputy Peters detected signs of intoxication. Deputy Peters administered the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and determined the driver was unable to operate a vehicle safely. Deputy Peters conducted a search of the vehicle incident to arrest and located 8.28 grams of Xanax. A further check of Alba’s information revealed a prior DWI conviction in 2022.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Driving While Intoxicated 2nd Offense. Alba was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bonds were set at a total of $3,100.
