PM, Deputy C. Crider conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 11200 block of the Gulf Freeway for an observed traffic violation.
After making contact with the driver, later identified as 44-year-old Steven Diaz, Deputy Crider conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, which resulted in the discovery of a 9mm handgun. A records check revealed that Diaz had a prior felony conviction, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm. Diaz was subsequently placed into custody and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Following his transport to the Harris County Joint Processing Center, detention staff conducted a thorough search of Diaz and located approximately 0.4 grams of methamphetamine concealed inside his sock.
