Precinct 8’s Deputies Gossett and Haroun took an aggravated 🤡 23 year old Matthew Antonio Benitez off the streets.

MALE ARRESTED FOR FELONY ASSAULT

On January 12, 2024, Deputies Gossett and Haroun with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office were dispatched to a Family Violence call at the Precinct 8 Pasadena Office in the 7300 block of Spencer Hwy. Deputies met with the complainant and after gathering information, discovered the complainant was a victim of an assault. The suspect was identified as 23 year old Matthew Antonio Benitez. Further investigation revealed Benitez repeatedly assaulted the victim by striking the victim with several objects and pushing the victim down a stairway. During the assault, Benitez pointed a gun at the victim and placed a two by four lumbar across the victim’s neck impeding the victim’s breathing.

Deputies located Benitez in the 200 block of El Dorado Blvd, the location where the assault initially took place. Deputies placed Benitez in custody and recovered the firearm used during the assault. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted felony charges for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault – Impeding Breath. Benitez was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bond was set at $20,000 for the Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge.
