Precinct 8’s Deputy K. Peters stopped intoxicated 🤡 Regan Elise Slusher racing over 130 MPH.

On Sunday, December 31, 2023, Precinct 8 Deputy K. Peters with Constable Phil Sandlin’s Office was patrolling the Gulf Freeway near Fuqua St when he observed two vehicles racing. Deputy Peters caught up to the vehicles and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. One of the vehicles pulled over and the other continued traveling at a high rate of speed.

Deputy Peters pursued the vehicle as it accelerated to speeds over 130 MPH. The vehicle continued to evade southbound on the Gulf Freeway, failing to maintain a single lane of traffic and nearly struck another vehicle. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop near Bay Area Blvd where a felony stop was conducted. The driver was detained and identified as 21 year old Regan Elise Slusher. The driver displayed multiple signs of intoxication. Deputy Peters conducted the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and determined the driver was unable to operate a vehicle safely.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted charges for Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle and Driving While Intoxicated. Charges for Racing on Highway were declined. Slusher was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where her bonds were set at a total of $2,600.
