With a passion for coaching and a dedication to excellence, 2024 Hall of Fame inductee Joan “Coach” Walker Propp leaves a lasting impact on the PISD community.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Joan Walker Propp! ๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽฝ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ

Known affectionately as Coach Walker by her athletes, she dedicated 34 years to coaching within Pasadena ISD, starting her career at South Houston High School. At Thompson Intermediate, she achieved success with district titles for seventh and eighth-grade girls teams, simultaneously leading Dobie High School’s girls track team to district championship victories. Coach Walker spent 25 impactful years at Sam Rayburn High School, molding champions in cross country and track, earning accolades such as the Secondary Physical Educator of the Year in 1998. Her contributions were further recognized with the Pasadena ISD Teacher of the Year award in 2005 and a Region 4 finalist position. Beyond coaching, Coach Walker’s legacy includes having the top girls performer award at the Brown Relays named in her honor and being a three-time veteran of the Boston Marathon.
