On Flag Day, Pasadena American Legion Post 521 united in gratitude, celebrating our red, white, blue, and army green with tributes to brave veterans and heroic service.

Honoring Our RED, WHITE & BLUE — and Army Green!
On August 3, 1949, National Flag Day was officially recognized by an Act of Congress, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. This legislation established Flag Day as a nationwide observance, encouraging all Americans to proudly display the flag and participate in ceremonies honoring its significance.
On June 14th, Pasadena American Legion Post 521 proudly observed Flag Day with a meaningful ceremony led by our Post Commander, Gordon Reed.
We were honored to welcome Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia as our special guest and speaker. Adding to the patriotic spirit, Mr. Joseph Horton, Assistant Principal of South Houston High School, gave a stirring performance of the National Anthem and “America the Beautiful.”
This year, Flag Day held even greater significance as it coincided with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States Army. Our Post also celebrated this monumental milestone, paying tribute to generations of brave men and women who have answered the call to serve—those who defended our freedom and those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep America safe, sovereign, and free.
This special day served as a powerful reminder of the history, symbolism, and pride embodied in the American flag—a flag we fly boldly to represent liberty, unity, and the enduring spirit of our nation.

The American Legion 521 urges you to call your congressman to pass the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2025 ensures every day in uniform counts, advocating for fairness among all service members.

The Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2025 (HR. 1423/S. 649) is crucial to rectifying this inequity.

This legislation proposes to count every day spent on weekend drills, annual training, attending military school, participating in an exercise, or responding to a disaster toward GI Bill eligibility. The American Legion firmly believes that every day in uniform counts. Guardsmen and Reservists who serve alongside their active-duty counterparts deserve the same GI Bill eligibility.

The American Legion urges you to contact your members of Congress today and encourage them to support the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act!

From protecting our borders and state capitals to delivering pandemic aid, supporting local law enforcement, and serving in combat overseas, National Guard and Reserve service members have been increasingly called upon to confront unique and…
