Compassion comes knocking when the community comes together to repair an elders badly damaged home.

On July 27th, 2023, Delfina Govea, a teacher with L.F. Smith Elementary, contacted Officer David Garza regarding a house across from the school that had sustained damage from a vehicle crash. According to Mrs. Govea, the homeowner was an older man who did not have the means to repair his home, and the vehicle that crashed into it was stolen, so there was no insurance money to cover the cost of the repairs.

Officer Garza sprung into action and contacted several business owners, organizations, and companies willing to donate their time and resources to fund the project. Alisa Cardenas from Gladiator Roofing and Construction, Raul Cardenas from Bathfitters, Adrian Sanchez from I.G.I.T. Ministries, Gerardo Bonilla, and Mr. Amaya from Materiales Amaya (donated all building materials) all answered the call and made this day possible.

This Saturday, Officer Garza coordinated with Seabrook PD Officer C. Cardenas, Larry Aleman from the Pasadena City Permits Department, and Assistant Building Official James Smith to come out and repair the home.

Officer Garza was thankful for the support and help from District G Councilman Orlando Ybarra, District C Councilman Emmanuel Guerrero, Chief J. Bruegger, Assistant Chief J. Wright, and the rest of his supervision for allowing him the opportunity to help Mr. Hickman finally complete this project that was so desperately needed.
