SIXTH IN THE NATION! What a journey for Rayburn JROTC cadets Genesis Garcia, Angelica Teneyuque, Valerie Mejia, and Andres Chacon-Murillo! Representing Sam Rayburn High School and Pasadena Independent School District at JLAB 2025 and placing 6th nationally out of over 1,700 JROTC programs is a testament to their grit, intellect, and teamwork. And clinching 3rd place overall in the knowledge test? That’s elite-level performance.
The JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl is no ordinary competition—it’s a multi-phase challenge that pushes cadets to excel in leadership, academics, and critical thinking. The top 40 teams make it to the national competition in Washington DC. Making it to the top 40 is already a huge feat, but to outperform every other Texas team and finish in the top 10 nationally? That’s legacy-making. 💙

Celebrating Our CANVASsadors!
This year, four proud PHS teachers joined the district wide CANVASsador Program, a initiative launched by Innovation and Development to empower educators as instructional leaders through the Canvas LMS.
At PHS, we’re proud to highlight four teacher trailblazers who have embraced this opportunity not just to grow, but to lead. These educators have taken a bold step to enhance their instructional practices, master tools like Canvas Studio and Canvas Quizzes, and model what it means to use technology with a purpose.
They understand what we believe at Pasadena High:
Technology should never replace a teacher… it should multiply a teacher’s impact.
Canvas is not a shortcut, it’s a tool to engage students, support learning, and amplify what great teachers do best.
These CANVASsadors are innovators!

Judith Goodman’s educational odyssey began in the modest classrooms of South Houston Elementary, where she first discovered her calling for teaching young minds. Her passion and skill quickly became apparent as she helped pioneer the opening of Mae Smythe Elementary, establishing not just classrooms but creating educational environments where children thrived. After three decades of direct classroom impact, Goodman’s expertise was recognized at the district level, where she transitioned to a curriculum specialist role. Yet retirement didn’t diminish her commitment to education; instead, it presented a new chapter. She launched her own consulting business, transforming from a beloved local teacher to a nationally recognized expert who traversed the country sharing her methodologies with eager educators looking to replicate her success.
Educators are the architects of future generations. They hold pencils, chalk, and sometimes our very dreams, shaping minds with patience and love. Judith Goodman has touched countless students’ lives over her 30-year career at Pasadena Independent School District. Her impact extends beyond mere academics; she inspires lifelong learners, empathic citizens, and leaders of tomorrow. Her family is holding a Spaghetti Dinner and Bake Sale this Saturday, April 26th, to raise money for her continued care after she suffered a devastating stroke while visiting friends in Maine. Thank you for your prayers and support.

🎉 Yesterday, Kruse Elementary celebrated the re-SPARK of their beloved SPARK Park! 🌳✨ The park, originally dedicated in 2013, now features a Custom KidBuilder structure, an inclusive team totter, 3 Bay Arch swings with integrated shade, and a multi-user disc swing.
The event was a joyous occasion for Kruse, with students receiving SPARK coloring books to commemorate the day. Attendees, including Kruse Elementary administrators, teachers, students, and community parents, enjoyed a special performance by Kruse Elementary students and Pasadena Eagles in rodeo fashion. The Pasadena High School Eagles were also honored, with various students in showcasing flag presentations during the ceremony.

Eagle Pride Never Dies!
During our Eagle Escort Spring Show showcase, we had the honor of welcoming back legendary alumni Sylvia Harden (‘74), Evelyn Stubbs Jackson (‘75), Gayle Bourque Melancon (‘76), and Patti Drake Bodkins (‘76). These incredible women returned not only to relive memories as Eagle Escorts. Their smiles, stories, and presence reminded us just how deep our 59 years of Escorts roots run.
But the night didn’t just belong to the past, it shined with our current Eagle Escorts, who lit up the stage with spirit, and passion.
We’re proud to share a glimpse of this unforgettable night, a video of the showcase and a moment with the alumni as a reminder that Eagle Pride Never Dies!
From past to present, the legacy continues.
This is our pride. This is our purpose. This is Pasadena.

Honoring Culture, Language, and Leadership at PHS!
This Friday Pasadena High School proudly hosted the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (National Hispanic Honor Society) Induction Ceremony a tradition that began on our campus in 2004.
Founded by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese in 1953, this prestigious society celebrates students who have demonstrated not only a deep passion for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture—but also high academic achievement, leadership, and character.
To be inducted, students must meet rigorous academic standards and show a strong commitment to excellence both in and out of the classroom.
Our newest inductees are continuing a legacy rooted in unity, service, scholarship, and cultural pride, and we couldn’t be prouder to recognize their accomplishments and welcome them into this honorable society.
