Precinct 8 had to go on a high-speed pursuit to catch a robbery 🤡 Jose Alberto Mercado.

 ROBBERY SUSPECT LEADS DEPUTY ON PURSUIT

On October 6, 2023 at approximately 12:06 AM, Precinct 8 Deputy Morgan along with K-9 partner “Duke” were dispatched to assist Houston Police Department with a stabbing that occurred in the 1000 block of Edgebrook Dr.

During the course of the investigation, it was revealed the victim’s vehicle was stolen by one of the suspects. Deputy Morgan was notified of a possible location of the stolen vehicle and located the vehicle in the 10500 block of the Gulf Freeway. The suspect proceeded to drive off and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled northbound on the Gulf Freeway service road at a high rate of speed while running several red lights and turned west on Park Place Blvd. The suspect continued onto Colgate St where it drove onto a front yard of a residence and struck a vehicle in the driveway. The vehicle continued to evade and came to a stop at the intersection of the Gulf Freeway and Monroe Rd where the suspect continued to flee on foot. Deputy Morgan deployed K9 Duke and successfully apprehended the suspect. The suspect was identified as 22 year old Jose Alberto Mercado.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was contacted and accepted felony charges for Robbery with Bodily Injury and Evading Arrest/Detention with Vehicle. Mercado was transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center where his bonds were set at a total of $75,000.
