Pasadena High’s track team is on point. Rockeria Rasberry raced to victory, setting personal bests in the 100m and 200m dash. Congratulations!

In girls’ area track: Congratulations to Rockeria Rasberry for winning 5th place at the area varsity track meet in both of her races! She set a personal record for both of her races, running a 12.3 in the 100 meter dash and a 25.8 in the 200 meter dash. We are so very proud of you Rockeria!! We can’t wait to see the amazing things that you will accomplish next season!!!

Zaniya, Victoria, and Adriana are striking out the competition, leading the district’s girls bowling team to the top. Congratulations!

🎳🎉Our district’s girls bowling team, consisting of the talented trio Zaniya McClain, Victoria Luna, and Adriana Luna, has achieved an outstanding 4th place in the preliminary round of the competition in College Station. They have earned a spot in the Finals!!

The ladies then clinched the top spot in the quarterfinals, leaving behind seven other teams. They are now headed to the final four!!! 🤘🏼

Zaniya McLain’s exceptional bowling skills have been recognized at the All-District All-Stars tournament! She was distinguished as one of the top performers. Her impressive performance has earned her a place among the top five bowlers in the state!

The athletes from Rayburn Track and Field are on fire, bringing home hardware left and right. Congratulations!

Sam Rayburn Track and Field has been bringing home the hardware all season and this week’s district meet was no exception! H’rei Jones was named the District long jump champion and placed 4th in the triple jump. The last person who was the district champion in the boy’s long jump was back in 2018.
Armando Prado placed 3rd in the 110m hurdles.
Miguel Deleon placed 4th in the 110 hurdles.
Mercedes Williams placed 2nd in the 200m dash.
Faith Bormann placed 4th in the 400m dash.
Cheyenne Cantu placed 4th in the shot put.
Breann Figgs Placed 4th in the discus.

All of these athletes have qualified for the Area meet at Deer Park HS next week. It’s a great achievement and we are proud of their hard work and dedication. Good luck to them as they compete at the next level!

We held our first annual Young Men Rise Up reception with our SHHS students. Pasadena High track athletes sprinted to final with Rockeria, Corrian, Alijah, Tony, and Malachi.

Congratulations to the following track athletes for advancing to the finals in the 22-6A Varsity District Track Meet: Tony Conchas won 3rd place in the shot put. Malachi Gamble won 2nd place in men’s triple jump. Rockeria Rasberry won first place in the 100 m dash and the 200 meters.
Corrian Davis, Alijah Cruz, and Malachi Gamble all made the finals in their running events as well! We run the finals tomorrow at 5 pm at the auxiliary stadium. Please come out to cheer us on!

The Dobie 9 Art Club took a road trip to NASA, where they connected art with space, met professionals, and saw the sunrise at Mission Control.

The Dobie 9 Art Club went on a private tour field trip at the Johnson Space Center NASA – National Aeronautics and Space Administration campus and explored the many connections between Art and the real world. They met professional graphics artists and video technicians who demonstrated what they did for NASA and how they got to be in their field. They were also up close and personal with space vehicles and watched the sunrise directly on the floor of Mission Control. The winner of the Dobie 9 Patch Design Contest, Isabella Allen, was congratulated and given a large print of her patch as a reward as well as a demonstration on how they might professionally produce her patch in real life! 👩‍🚀🎨

The sweet collaboration between CTE engineers and culinary students at Pasadena High created innovative treats that tasted like success.

In an inspiring display of collaboration between CTE programs at Pasadena High School Eagles, engineering students teamed up with culinary students to create something truly sweet and innovative! Using cutting-edge 3D printing technology, our budding engineers designed and produced custom cookie cutters, turning their digital designs into tangible tools. These cookie cutters were then passed on to us, where creativity flourished as they used them to craft delicious treats. This project exemplifies the power of teamwork and the endless possibilities when different programs come together. Here’s to the delicious treats of collaboration.

Memorial High’s Outdoor Ed students earned their Ducks Unlimited certification and will be quacking it up at the Texas NASP State Tournament.

Congratulations to our Outdoor Education Practicum students from PMHS. They recently completed the Ducks Unlimited Ecology Conservation and Management certification course, with all of them passing their final exam. Also, good luck to our Pasadena Independent School District Outdoor Ed students that are competing at the 2024 Texas NASP State Tournament today and tomorrow. The State Tournament is only for Teams and Individuals who participated in the 2024 TX-NASP Virtual State Qualifying Tournament and were invited to advance to the 2024 State NASP® Bullseye and State NASP®/IBO 3D Tournaments.

In the last six years, she has grown our program from just three classes to now over 700 students! CTHS Senior PCT students did some on the job practice at the Parsons House plus sang with residents at their Bible study group.

Senior PCT students from CTHS Pasadena ISD visited Parsons House in La Porte this week to help with their vitals clinic. The students participated by taking the residents’ weight, blood pressure, and measuring oxygen levels. The day ended with students singing along with their Bible study group. Edgar P. crushed his competition with finesse, whipping up a dazzling one-bite wonder at the Texas ProStart Invitational. Congratulations!

Congratulations to 10th grade culinary arts student Edgar P. from CTHS Pasadena ISD who won his competition titled “Amuse Me” at the Texas ProStart Invitational in Waco, Texas. He was tasked with making a “fine dining one-bite appetizer” in just 30 minutes. His creation was a seared bay scallop and ginger carrot puree with a white wine garlic butter sauce. We are super proud of Edgar and his instructors that prepared him for this difficult challenge.

Cheyanne wrangled her way to an impressive 12th place finish with her Charolais Cross steer at Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Congratulations!

Dobie High School‘s Cheyanne Bravo successfully showcased her Charolais Cross steer at the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Placing 12th out of 66 contestants in her class, she earned an auction sale slot, ensuring a minimum guaranteed amount of $8500 with the potential for additional premium funds generated through the auction proceeds. Cheyanne obtained her steer through participation in the Houston calf scramble in 2023, where she not only received the hard luck award but also a certificate toward her animal. Her dedicated efforts in raising the animal over the past 9 months have yielded commendable results. Notably, this marks Dobie FFA’s inaugural participation in the HLSR steer auction, further underscoring the significance of this achievement!

This years Hall of Fame inductee Carl Feazle will forever be remembered for his dynamic running skills, six-touchdown games, and legendary leadership on and off the field.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Carl Feazle! 🏆🏈🎽

Carl Feazle’s high school career as a standout athlete began with a varsity spot on the Pasadena High School football team in 1938. Notably, he earned the nickname “The Pride of Pasadena” during his senior year, showcasing dynamic running skills and leading the team to newfound success. Feazle’s impact was undeniable, contributing significantly to his team’s points and earning recognition as a formidable defensive player. His 1940 season featured standout performances, including a six-touchdown game and a dominant showing in the district championship victory. Feazle received many prestigious accolades, including All-State and All-Southeast Texas honors. Beyond football, he demonstrated athletic versatility in track and leadership as president of his senior class. Following graduation, Feazle briefly played football for Texas A&M, served in the navy during World War II, and remained active in his community until his passing in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of athletic excellence and service.

Chris Tremie, a standout behind the plate at South Houston High School, contributed to the team’s renowned status in Pasadena ISD history and played a pivotal role in American Legion Post 490’s state title victory. His impressive senior year in 1988 led the Trojans to the UIL playoffs with notable stats, earning him All-Greater Houston and all-state honors. Drafted by the Houston Astros, Tremie chose collegiate baseball at the University of Houston, excelling as a starter throughout his four-year tenure. Post-college, he embarked on a 14-year, 17-team journey in professional baseball, showcasing exceptional defensive skills as a catcher and gaining a reputation for mentoring others. Retiring as a player in 2005, Tremie transitioned into successful managerial roles, achieving Eastern League and International League titles. Currently, he serves as the minor-league field coordinator for the Cincinnati Reds, actively contributing his knowledge and expertise to aspiring players within the organization.

Matt Wingo 2024 Hall of Fame inductee: a true multi-sport star, dominating on the gridiron and in track and field.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Matt Wingo! 🏆🏈🎽

Matt Wingo, a versatile star at Dobie High School, earned recognition for his football prowess in multiple positions, showcasing skills in running, tackling, and kicking. His junior year in 1985 contributed to Dobie’s 12-1 record and regional semifinals appearance, with first-team all-district honors as a linebacker and punter. Wingo’s effectiveness as a running back challenged defensive backs, and his track achievements in discus and shot put drew college recruiters’ attention. Transitioning to Texas Tech, he became one of the university’s most prolific tacklers, accumulating 385 tackles over four years, leading the team to All-American Bowl victory, and receiving leadership awards. Last year, Wingo was inducted into the Red Raiders’ Athletics Hall of Fame, capping off a celebrated career that included pursuing a professional football stint with the Denver Broncos.

Amanda Nguyen’s athletic journey began at Dobie High School, showcasing her prowess in softball and volleyball. As a key player at second base, she played a pivotal role in securing four consecutive playoff appearances, earning first-team all-district recognition in her junior and senior years and statewide acclaim as an all-state athlete. Transitioning to West Point, Nguyen wrote records, earned All-Patriot League honors each year, and led the team to a memorable Patriot League championship and NCAA tournament berth in her junior season. Graduating as one of the most decorated athletes in school history, Nguyen continued her academic pursuits with an MBA at the University of Texas at Austin and now serves as an admissions officer for the US Military Academy.

Wesley Speights’ legendary career as a sports trainer spanned over five decades, leaving an indelible mark on the athletes he served.

 2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Wesley Speights! 🏆🏈🎽🩺

Wesley Speights began his sports training journey as the team manager at South Houston Intermediate, later transitioning to football as a kicker at South Houston High. Under the mentorship of coaches Robinson and Perry, he became a student trainer, Houston Independent School District sideline assistant, and part-time trainer for the Rice Owls. Speights made history as Abilene Christian University’s first full-time professional trainer, with notable achievements, including a bowl game victory in 1976, leading to induction into the ACU Sports Hall of Fame. Internationally, he served as the sports trainer for the USA Junior Track and Field Team in 1980, followed by diverse roles in Houston, catering to NBA teams, ice hockey and soccer teams, tennis luminaires, and even partnering with Cirque De Soleil. Retiring in 2019 after a remarkable 54-year career, Speights leaves behind a legacy defined by professionalism, versatility, and unwavering dedication to the athletes he served.

With a passion for coaching and a dedication to excellence, 2024 Hall of Fame inductee Joan “Coach” Walker Propp leaves a lasting impact on the PISD community.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Joan Walker Propp! 🏆🎽👟

Known affectionately as Coach Walker by her athletes, she dedicated 34 years to coaching within Pasadena ISD, starting her career at South Houston High School. At Thompson Intermediate, she achieved success with district titles for seventh and eighth-grade girls teams, simultaneously leading Dobie High School’s girls track team to district championship victories. Coach Walker spent 25 impactful years at Sam Rayburn High School, molding champions in cross country and track, earning accolades such as the Secondary Physical Educator of the Year in 1998. Her contributions were further recognized with the Pasadena ISD Teacher of the Year award in 2005 and a Region 4 finalist position. Beyond coaching, Coach Walker’s legacy includes having the top girls performer award at the Brown Relays named in her honor and being a three-time veteran of the Boston Marathon.

Ruben Martinez, the 2024 Hall of Fame spotlight, an exceptional athlete both on the football field and baseball diamond.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Ruben Martinez! 🏆🏈⚾

Ruben Martinez’s journey into football began in the seventh grade at Queens Intermediate, leading into a varsity career at Pasadena High School where he earned three varsity football letters. In 1995, as a junior, Martinez secured the fourth spot statewide in 5A rushing in 1996. Martinez’s stellar performances earned him the district’s most valuable player title, and he led the Eagles to the playoffs in both seasons, the only appearances in 53 years. Martinez’s athletic prowess extended to baseball, earning honors as a pitcher and a shortstop. He additionally excelled academically, graduating in the top six percent of his class with a 4.2 GPA. After high school, he pursued baseball at Wharton Junior College and Viladecans in Spain.

Billy Hale, during his time at Pasadena High School, played a vital role in propelling the Eagles to a state championship, earning all-district honors as the team’s rushing leader in his senior year. Hale then continued his football journey at Del Mar Junior College in Corpus Christi. When Del Mar discontinued its football program, fate led him to Rice University, where he earned a starting position as the Owls’ wingback. Throughout his tenure, Hale’s versatility was evident as he transitioned seamlessly between positions, receiving high praise and being hailed as the best defensive back in two decades. Nicknamed “Little Hard Rock” for his resilient playstyle, Hale’s legacy extended beyond football, showcasing his talents as the Owl Baseball Team’s starting shortstop. His dedication to Rice University was recognized in 2008 with the Distinguished Owl Club Award.

Donnie Brogna, South Houston High alumni, and ultimate high school sports star turned college baseball standout, with a talent for golf even in retirement.

2024 Hall of Fame inductee spotlight: Donnie Brogna! 🏆🏈⚾🎽

Donnie Brogna was a standout athlete at South Houston High School, excelling in football, track, and baseball. Renowned for his versatility on the football field, he transitioned to quarterback in his senior year, leading the Trojans to their first postseason appearance in 1967. His exceptional performance earned him recognition as the Houston Chronicle’s “Back of the Week” for the second time that season. Beyond football, Brogna secured regional titles and district honors in track and baseball. Continuing his athletic journey at Rice University on a baseball scholarship, Brogna made significant contributions as a pitcher and outfielder. Even in retirement, he found success in golf, receiving multiple holes-in-one.

Last weekend Dobie dominated at the Speech and Debate tournament, snagging top spots and national qualifications. Congratulations!

This past weekend our Speech and Debate team competed at the East Texas National Speech and Debate Districts tournament. This tournament is to qualify for the national tournament that is being held this summer at Des Moines, Iowa! Only the top 3 finalists at this tournament get to qualify for the NSDA tournament and gladly our longhorns pulled through and Dobie got some NSDA Qualifications!

Hall of Famer Carl Feazle: Pasadena High’s pride, football star, track standout, and community leader, leaving behind a lasting legacy.

Carl Feazle’s high school career as a standout athlete began with a varsity spot on the Pasadena High School football team in 1938. Notably, he earned the nickname “The Pride of Pasadena” during his senior year, showcasing dynamic running skills and leading the team to newfound success. Feazle’s impact was undeniable, contributing significantly to his team’s points and earning recognition as a formidable defensive player. His 1940 season featured standout performances, including a six-touchdown game and a dominant showing in the district championship victory. Feazle received many prestigious accolades, including All-State and All-Southeast Texas honors. Beyond football, he demonstrated athletic versatility in track and leadership as president of his senior class. Following graduation, Feazle briefly played football for Texas A&M, served in the navy during World War II, and remained active in his community until his passing in 2006, leaving behind a legacy of athletic excellence and service.

Al Campo’s athletic journey started with success in basketball at Pasadena, followed by an outstanding senior year on the baseball diamond, earning all-district honors and boasting a remarkable .410 batting average. At the University of Houston, he excelled as a shortstop, achieving a notable .361 batting average his senior year. Transitioning to coaching, Campo led Sam Rayburn’s baseball teams to championships in 1977, 1984, and 1985, making it to the state tournament in the latter year. Despite falling short in the state title game, he was recognized as the All-Greater Houston coach of the year. Campo later served as the head football coach at South Houston High from 2001-2006, leaving a lasting legacy.

We are thrilled that our talented Agriculture Mechanics students have achieved a remarkable milestone at the Austin Agriculture Mechanics Show. In their debut competition, they not only participated but also won blue ribbons for both of their projects – the Agri Gate and the Hay Bin. This achievement is a testament to their hard work, creativity, and dedication to excellence in agricultural mechanics.

But that’s not all! Our students also showcased their skills in the Skills Test, where they performed incredibly well in welding, further demonstrating their technical prowess.

Let’s give a big GO EAGLES! to our students for their outstanding achievements. Their success at the Austin Rodeo highlights the bright future of agriculture and mechanics, and we are incredibly proud of what they have accomplished. Congratulations to our brilliant Ag Mechanics team!

Exploring Houston’s historic past, Rayburn’s Black Student Association had a blast diving into the city’s Black history.

Rayburn’s Black Student Association recently commemorated Black History Month with a field trip to the African American Library at the Gregory School in Fourth Ward. Fourth Ward is Houston’s Historic Freedmen’s Town and prior to being a library, the Gregory School was an elementary school opened by the Freedmen’s Bureau. Students enjoyed a great day of immersing themselves in the rich Black history of Houston.

Swish, score, and teach – thanks to Houston Sports Authority, Houston Loves Teachers, and Chevron.

Harris County – Houston Sports Authority and Houston Loves Teachers teamed up with Chevron to provide $53,000 to five of our PISD Elementary Campuses. The grant will help teachers purchase supplies for their classrooms, help fund PE and Recess initiatives to encourage outdoor opportunities and support professional growth among educators.

Dobie High’s vocal talents dazzle as Texas All-State Choir Members, hitting high notes at the TMEA Conference.

Keven Alvarenga and Joy Menahem from J. Frank Dobie High School were selected as Texas All-State Choir Members for this year! They spent four days in San Antonio at the Texas Music Educators Association Conference rehearsing and preparing for their concerts. This was Joy’s THIRD year in a row to be selected as an all-state choir student!! Congratulations to these talented Dobie students!

Professor Travis Prokop twirls into the Jannettes’ world, turning a dancer’s dream into reality with a modern masterclass.

On Tuesday, the Jannettes welcomed and had the privilege of taking a modern masterclass from the University of Houston’s professor Travis Prokop!

• Travis is currently an assistant professor of dance at UH and continues to serve the Houston dance community.
• He has also served as a faculty of dance at Lamar University (tenured), Sam Houston State University and Southern Methodist University.
• He has produced local and national works for numerous arts and dance events.
• As a performer, Travis Prokop has been featured on national television for the FOX broadcasting shows So You Think You Can Dance (Season 5) and American Crime (Season 2, Episode 5).
• Professor Prokop has performed nationally and has also performed for various dance companies here in Houston.

During his visit, he did a Q&A with the Jannettes and talked to them about the University of Houston’s dance program, and what all it has to offer, along with scholarship opportunities. We are so grateful for this experience and hope to continue to provide more opportunities like these for our students.

Rayburn Swimming and Diving teams shore up wins at UIL District Championships and diving head on into Regionals. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the Sam Rayburn girls and boys swimming and diving teams for their performance at the UIL District 22-6A Championships at Shippey Aquatic Center. The following swimmers placed in the Top Six in their respective events and qualified for the playoffs and the UIL Region 6-6A Championships this weekend. This is the 34th consecutive year the Rayburn swimming and diving team has qualified for the playoffs and regional championships.
Zachariah Flores: 3rd place in 1-meter diving and 4th place in 100-yard freestyle.
Darianna Rodriguez: 1st place in 1-meter diving and 2nd place in 100-yard freestyle.
Haile Downs: 5th place in 200-yard freestyle and 4th place in 500-yard freestyle.
Freddy Merez: 6th place in 50-yard freestyle and 7th place in 200-yard freestyle.

Great things are happening in CTE at Pasadena High School Eagles!! Students participated in the National Technical Honor Society Induction Ceremony yesterday. Also, 7 Culinary students tested and passed the ServSafe Manager certification exam!!! This certification is a must-have in the hospitality world. The exam tests student’s knowledge on everything from foodborne illnesses to proper cooling and heating. Earning this certification not only showcases your expertise but also boosts your career, as many employers consider this a key requirement. Congratulations to the J Frank Dobie HS girls and boys swimming diving teams for their performance at the UIL District 22-6A Championships at Shippey Aquatic Center!
The following swimmers placed in the Top Six in their respective events and qualified for the playoffs and the UIL Region 6-6A Championships this weekend:

Pasadena Memorial High School’s Advertising class has been working with the Pasadena Animal Shelter to help promote adoptions. Part of the plan was the #ArtisticDogChallenge where a canvas with paint is placed inside a Ziploc bag and peanut butter is added to the outside of it. You then allow your dog to lick the snack and create an art piece. Pasadena Animal Shelter brought over four doggies that participated in the challenge as the students got to interact with them. All of these dogs are ready for adoption at the shelter and their art will be hung in the shelter’s lobby for all guest to see!

Pasadena High’s getting upgrades from restrooms to AC Chillers.

This year, our school has seen a wave of much-needed upgrades! We’ve got a new roof, a turf field, upgraded restrooms with water refill stations, a state-of-the-art audio system in our auditorium and gym, plus new lighting and curtains to enhance performances. Also new score boards jn the gym. Our stadium is shining bright with new lights, and our parking lot has brand-new gates and fencing.
And today, we’re excited to add to the list! We’ve just installed new AC chillers and boilers, bringing even more comfort and efficiency to our school.
It’s an ongoing transformation, and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our community and dedicated maintenance, operations, and construction departments for making these improvements possible. Thank you for your hard work and dedication to our school’s betterment and continue works on our campus.

Jensen Elementary won the TEPSA leadership workshop song competition. Congratulations!

Exciting news! Every year student council officers from around the state attend TEPSA leadership workshops. Each school in attendance submits a song and theme highlighting their learning for the day. Out of 310 submissions, Jensen Elementary’s song and theme were chosen! Their submission was entitled Leaders Dream Big and Loud and is sung to the tune of Best Day of My Life by American Authors. The theme they submitted, will also appear on all the TEPSA LRU t-shirts next year. Dobie Speech and Debate Team had something to talk about at the Emory University Barkley Forum for High Schools Tournament. Congratulations!

This past weekend, our Speech and Debate Varsity team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete at the Emory University Barkley Forum for High Schools Tournament. Team members, Kevin Mejia, Ciara Williams, Valeria Arredondo, and Yaretzi Martinez competed in the high school forensic competition, which annually receiving hundreds of applicants.
Valeria Arredondo went to the quarterfinal in program Oral Interpretation and finished in 14th place, earning a gold key.
She also finished in 22nd place in Humorous Interpretation.
Ciara Williams quarterfinals in Informative Speaking, finishing in 16th place and earning a gold key.
Yaretzi Martinez Quarterfinal in Dramatic Interpretation, finishing in 22nd place and earning a gold key.
Because of their quarterfinal, they also got individual bids for the national NIETOC tournament. Congratulations!

South Houston High English III students celebrated Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance.

Happy Birthday, Langston Hughes! English III students celebrated the launch of their poetry unit by learning about the life of Langston Hughes and the impact he had on the Harlem Renaissance. In honor of his birthday today, students created music playlists, collages, poems, and house party invitations to gain a deeper understanding of the social, historical, and cultural context of his work.

South Houston’s Aquatics Team paddled fast at District Swimming Championships. Two mates advanced to the Regional meet. Congratulations!

Congratulations to the SHHS Aquatics Team, who competed in the District Swimming Championship. Sophomore Andres Cruz won 1st place in the 200 yd Individual Medley, and will compete in the Regional Meet for the second year in a row on February 9th. Andres also took the bronze medal in the Boys’ 500 yd Freestyle. Navya Karunarathne for placed 5th in the Girls 50 yd Freestyle and 6th in the Girls’ 100 yd Freestyle. She has also advanced to the regional meet!
Congratulations also to to Junior Paulina Moyeda who placed 8th in Girls 50 Yard Freestyle and 9th in Girls 100 Yard Freestyle as well as Sophomore George Gonzalez who placed 11th in Boys 50 Yard Freestyle. Go Trojans!!

The English Department held their first Junior Class Career Fair on Monday, January 29th. The career fair was a culminating activity that provided real-world application to English III curriculum’s Professional Communications unit. Eagle Escort Dance Program flew home with 1st place wins across the board under their wings at MA Competition. Congratulations!

Congratulations to our Eagle Escort Dance program for taking 1st place in ALL of their competition routines at the MA Competition this weekend. Miller Falconettes victory was a 1st place finish at MA Dance Regional Competition. Congratulations!

The V. W. Miller Intermediate School Falconettes won the OVERALL 1ST PLACE title in the junior high small division at MA Dance’s regional competition on Saturday, January 27, 2024. The Falconettes received 1st place for their team Jazz, Lyrical, and Pom routines and a 2nd place for their Hip Hop routine. Liliana Pizana & Ava Trevino’s officer duet received 2nd place and Ava Trevino’s solo received 5th place. In addition, the team received first place overall dance team award for the intermediate school division, which means that their scores were in the 98% percentile for each of the judges in the panel for ALL team routines. Two Dobie HS Winter Guard units competed Saturday at the Texas Color Guard Circuit event at Turner HS.
The Dobie JV Winter Guard took fourth place out of ten units in their division and the Dobie Varsity Winter Guard dominated… earning first place out of seven in their division! #DobiePride

Meet Lauren Garza Dobie’s excels-ent Standout Student-Athlete.

Lady Longhorn, Lauren Garza, was introduced by Coach Hickman and honored at PISD’s board meeting last night. She has shown us that running takes strategy, endurance, and mental strength. She represented Dobie High School for cross country at state this year! Off the trails, Lauren is an early college student-athlete who excels both in the classroom and in their sport and has also been recognized for her academic achievements.

Dr. Verhofstad was honored at last night’s PISD board meeting! We were thrilled to showcase an exceptional
Longhorn who has made great strides in the field of science education at Dobie High School. She has been recognized for her outstanding work as a secondary science teacher, receiving awards such as the Outstanding Secondary Science Teacher by CAST and the Wilhelmina Robertson Excellence in Science Teaching Award from the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
