As Chief J. Wright and the Pasadena Police visited Kruse Elementary with new cowboy hats and story time live.

Chief J. Wright and the Pasadena Police Department’s Community Services Division had the privilege of visiting several bilingual and English kindergarten classes at Kruse Elementary.

Students could barely contain their excitement as they were gifted with Western-style hats to wear to celebrate Go Texan Day while books were being read to them. Thank you, Kruse Elementary, for inviting us to spend time with students to read them some of their favorite books!

PPD’s K9 Pack was a fearless and dedicated officer who served Pasadena with unwavering courage.

K9 Pack served as an active police canine with the Pasadena Police Department for 9 years until his retirement in May 2022. Following retirement, he continued to live with his handler, Officer C. Turpin. On December 24, 2023, K9 Pack passed away, and we reflect on the remarkable contributions and courage he displayed throughout his distinguished career.

Beyond aiding in numerous arrests, seizures, and suspect apprehensions within Pasadena, Pack extended his assistance to several surrounding Police Departments.
Pack performed his duties without fear or question of his own safety and kept citizens and Officers safe on numerous occasions. One particularly memorable incident that emphasized Pack’s exceptional skills and bravery was when, without hesitation, he apprehended an armed suspect who had pointed a firearm at multiple individuals.

We express our gratitude for K9 Pack’s tenacious commitment, and his absence will be felt by many who admire and respect his dedication to the Pasadena Police Department.

Celebrating 30 years with the Pasadena CPAAA, Mayor Wagner and Councilman Schoenbein, marking a legacy of community support and dedication.

Last night, we celebrated the Pasadena Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association with the esteemed presence of Mayor Jeff Wagner and Councilman Thomas Schoenbein.

It marked the 30th-year milestone for our C.P.A.A.A., a journey its founding members embarked upon with immense pride and commitment. During the ceremony, we took a moment to recognize the outstanding achievements that have defined their legacy over the years.

In 1995, the C.P.A.A.A. journey began with Class 1, and today, they have become one of the biggest supporters of our department and its employees. Over the years, the C.P.A.A.A. has contributed not only thousands of volunteer hours over three decades but also organized fundraisers to provide valuable equipment to help us better serve our community.

Noteworthy contributions include the purchase of our K9 Malcom in 2018, Drunk Buster Pedal Carts in 2020 for our D.W.I. education program, and, most recently, a Patrol Tactical Drone in 2023 to add to our newly established Drone Unit. Their members have gone above and beyond to ensure the success of more significant community events, such as Trunk or Treat and Officer Santa. Their unwavering commitment is evident as they consistently step up when there is a need and fulfill it.

Through their hundreds of hours of volunteer work working alongside our officers, they have become part of our family. They have participated in search teams for missing persons, offered support during high-profile homicide cases, and even mourned with us during the devastating losses of our own.

Join us in celebrating the incredible journey of the Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and the invaluable contributions that have shaped our organization’s legacy over the past 30 years. Here’s to many more years of collaboration, support, and shared success!

His date says he loves kids, is incredibly sweet, and friendly with humans and dogs. Gary seems like the perfect pet for you.

Doggie Date Recap! 🐶❤️

Our handsome boy Gary recently went on a Doggie Date. Check out what his lucky dater had to say:

“Gary is an absolute sweetheart! My girls and I took him to a park where he met a number of people and other dogs. Both my girls ran around with Gary and played with him. He then sat down on the grass and snuggled with us and just wanted to be loved on.

It seems like Gary is toilet trained and once he calmed down a little, he loved being outside and being around myself and my girls. He loves children and is very sweet to other people, and he seems to be very dog friendly.

Gary seems like he would be a perfect family dog who would happily play with kids and be sweet to little ones, gladly go out and exercise with anyone, but then happily lay down and snuggle on the couch.

He truly is an amazing dog and if it wasn’t for my husband and us already having 2 dogs, I would have taken him home to foster until he found a family. He seemed so grateful to get out.”

The 7th annual Voices of the Past at Crown Hill Cemetery is bringing history to life looking for volunteer help.

Sharing for our friends at Historic Crown Hill Cemetery:
This year the Crown Hill Cemetery Association is celebrating its Veterans history as the focus of its ever growing popular festival and 7th annual Voices of the Past 2024.

This family fun event is done to pull the community together and learn a little bit about the residents in Crown Hill Cemetery and the foundation of the City’s beginning. This intimate event also comes with plenty of general comradery over sausage on a stick among your neighbors near, far, and deep rooted Pasadenian’s are often walking around sharing their stories.

As every year in order to pull off VOTP the event survives by asking our giving community for big favors keeping it fun in the front and party in the back. Ultimately striving for not only the overall success of VOTP but forever seeding the youth to want to volunteer and maintain the cemetery’s heritage.

So looky here friends. To this year’s venue we’ve added a spot for artistic volunteers to sing at VOTP in the genres of swing and boogie-woogie. If you can help us save the day please reach out to Sarah for the details at [email protected] or our contact page https://crownhillcemetery.org/contact/

Also, if you’re not a singer and would be a better volunteer in other areas of the event please reach out. We need you!

PPD: Even with no service, your phone can still call 9-1-1.

📱🚨 KNOW YOUR DEVICE 🚨📱

Did you know that phones without service can still call 9-1-1? 📞 Emergency situations can happen when we least expect them, and having a phone to call for help is crucial. But sometimes, our phones can accidentally dial 9-1-1 when we don’t mean to. 😱

To prevent unintentional calls to emergency services, here’s what you can do:

1️⃣ Keep your phone securely stored when you’re not using it.
2️⃣ Lock your phone’s keypad or use a screen lock feature.
3️⃣ Avoid storing your phone in pockets or bags where buttons can get pressed accidentally.
4️⃣ If you have a child or someone who might accidentally call 9-1-1, enable child lock or restrict access to the emergency dial feature.

Remember, 9-1-1 should only be used in a real emergency when immediate assistance is needed. 🆘 Help spread the word and keep our emergency lines open for those who truly need them! 🌟
